I'm now 26 weeks and 3 days pregnant and almost at the end of my second trimester. I’ve been told that the second trimester is by far the easiest time for pregnant women, so we've been getting out on the weekends, enjoying the nice fall weather and colors, and making the most of our PB (pre-baby) time together. I did consider spending my weekends working on the nursery but have decided to postpone it for now… I’m much happier playing than shopping and painting. I know what you’re thinking – everyone LOVES shopping for baby stuff. But, REALLY shopping for a baby is an overwhelming experience. I had no idea that such a small being could NEED so much. Thankfully, many friends have generously supplied our family with hand-me-downs. Our front room is stacked with baby clothes, furniture, toys, and books.
And in less than 100 days, I will be delivering our baby girl! It really is amazing how much we’ve grown in the last few weeks. I am now very visibly pregnant with a nice round bump. She kicks ALL the time, especially around 4 in the morning. I’m also wearing size 9 shoes (up almost two sizes) and the wonderful elastic panel maternity pants.
Mike had business meetings in San Antonio in September and got to slip away for a quick visit to the Alamo. Because the trip was around Hurricane Ike, I stayed home.

Last week, we attended an Obama - Change '08 fundraiser at the Depot, and Mike got to meet Mario Capecchi, co-winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine and one of the keynote speakers at the event.
